The first Archaeological Micromorphology Summer School, conducted from 8 to 12 September 2025 at the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua, achieved significant outcomes, fostering academic excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field.

Led by Prof. Cristiano Nicosia and Dr. Federico Polisca from the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padova, along with Dr. Matthew Canti from Historic England, the school offered an unprecedented opportunity to study archaeological micromorphology. Participants benefited from cutting-edge equipment, a unique thin section collection, and instruction from internationally renowned experts.

From beginners to experts, 20 participants explored the microscopic world of archaeological soils and sediments, setting the stage for the next edition in 2026.

Prof. Cristiano Nicosia highlights the key aspects and objectives of the Summer School in this concise video presentation.
