In memory of Riccardo Pozzobon: the ceremony at the SIMP-SGI Congress

Science, exploration and friendship are woven in this touching tribute to Riccardo Pozzobon, a brilliant planetary geologist from the Department of Geosciences at the University of Padua, who passed away on 2 September during a mission in Alaska.

The official ceremony in memory of Riccardo Pozzobon took place on 17 September during the SIMP-SGI congress in Padova, at the end of the plenary conference given by astronaut Luca Parmitano, whom Riccardo had trained during geological training courses.

Professor Matteo Massironi and researcher Francesco Sauro remembered their friend and colleague, recounting Riccardo Pozzobon's main insights and discoveries and his extraordinary human qualities. It was a touching tribute to a great scientist and instructor whose passion and dedication will continue to inspire the scientific community.
