Internationalization, the activities with the Meru University (Kenya)

02.10.2023

The scientific collaboration and academic mobility agreement between the University of Padua and Meru University of Science and Technology (Kenya) has been renewed, for the period 2023-2026, as part of the Erasmus+ KA171 Program, and has been enriched by a recent memorandum of understanding signed by the two universities.

As part of this collaboration, and thanks to university funding (Shaping a World Class University 2022 call), Prof. Luca Valentini went to Meru to deliver an intensive course entitled "a crash course in mineralogy".

The stay was also an opportunity for a visit to Nairobi with the Italian Ambassador to Kenya Roberto Natali, followed by a meeting with the scientific director of the embassy, Prof. Fabio Santoni, and with Irene Fagotto of the Nations Program United for the Environment (UNEP). These meetings were an opportunity to discuss the activities of the Department of Geosciences, in the context of sustainable development issues in Kenya and other regions of Sub-Saharan Africa.
