Cement and Concrete: from the Romans to Mars

The issue of Elements “Cement and Concrete – from the Romans to Mars” is now available online (elementsmagazine.org/).

Elements is an international magazine of mineralogy, geochemistry and petrology, and this issue highlights the role of these disciplines to the study of cement materials, from historical mortars to sustainable cements for future construction.

All four guest editors of this issue have a background in the field of geosciences. The opening article is written in collaboration with Herbert Pöllmann, lecturer in mineralogy and geochemistry of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, and pioneer into the application of mineralogical methods to the study of cement materials, who tragically passed away last year, during the revision stage.
