Technical-scientific skills and specialized volunteering for risk and emergency management

The role of trained graduates within the national Civil Protection system will be the focus of the seminar “LARES Italia in the Civil Protection System”, scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 4:30 PM in Aula Arduino at the Department of Geosciences, University of Padua. Organized by the LARES Veneto operational section, the event will provide a theoretical and practical overview of the activities carried out by LARES Italia, a national association of professionals and specialized volunteers working in risk prevention and emergency response.

The semin is now part of the nationally recognized organized volunteer network. It operates throughout Italy thanks to agreements with several universities and is active in key areas such as promoting Civil Protection awareness, risk communication, and providing support to coordination centers during major emergencies—such as the 2023 floods in Emilia-Romagna.

The seminar will be led by Eleonora Benà, Sara Franzè, and Elisa Saler from the LARES Veneto section, with contributions from Danilo Calabrese, President of LARES Italia, and Marco Cidda, National Secretary. The event is open to students and staff of the Department interested in learning how technical and scientific expertise can play a vital role in public safety and territorial management.

Founded in 2006 in Foligno as a student association, LARES
