The University of Padua ranks first in Italy in the field of Geophysics and among the top 100 universities in the same subject around the world. Globally it is among the top 150 universities in the fields of Geology and Earth and Marine Sciences. This is what emerges from the World University Ranking by Subject 2023 recently published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, one of the most relevant agencies in the world in the field of university evaluation.
The new edition of the ranking analysed the performance of 1597 universities in 161 different locations around the world (63 more university than in the previous list).
The ranking, drawn up every year, is part of the Higher Reputation Report (HER) published by QS Quacquarelli Symonds and aims at helping potential students to identify the main universities on a national and global scale in various academic fields.
The result achieved in Geophysics "is the product of a constant growth of the research group active in this area in our University, also with the recruitment of young and dynamic teaching staff, and the creation of a structure with a broad international scope, with applications ranging from archeology to seismology, from environmental disciplines to engineering", commented the geophysicist Giorgio Cassiani, coordinator of the Master's Degree in Geophysics for Natural Risk and Resources.
