Title: TERRA - Tackling seismicity at Etna using Repeating sources, Relocations and Ambient noise monitoring

TERRA is a multidisciplinary project focused on Tackling seismicity at Mt. Etna using Repeating sources, Relocations and Ambient noise monitoring. Mt. Etna’s high eruptive rate, longevity and variation in eruptive style provides an ideal location to quantitatively constrain links between eruptive processes and seismicity over the past 22 years. Using a matched filter search, activity will be categorised based on the similarity of waveforms and the repeating nature of the seismic source, providing information on the processes and structures beneath a volcano. Ambient noise monitoring will be used to map out changes in the seismic velocity structure throughout eruptions. These methods will be used alongside surface observations to understand key processes occurring throughout the past eruptions.
The project TERRA has received funding from the European Union's Horizon program under the European Research Council (grant agreement no. 101106187).
