Gilberto Artioli, full professor of the Department of Geosciences, was awarded the "Waltrude and Friedrich Liebau Prize for the Promotion of Interdisciplinarity in Crystallography" from the German Society for Crystallography (DKG).

 

The prize was awarded with the following motivation:

"for his important work, which in an outstanding way combines methods and knowledge of the exact natural sciences, in particular crystallography, with important questions from both the cultural sciences, such as the exploration of the material cultural heritage of mankind such as archaeometry, and applied material sciences such as cement research, whereby he succeeds in an impressive way in making his results and their significance in crystallography visible far beyond their specialist boundaries".

The awards ceremony took place online on March 15th at the annual conference of the German Society for Crystallography (DKG).
