Geosciences: not only landslides and earthquakes, a Degree to save the planet (and ourselves too)
Geology and geosciences, in general, not only provide the opportunity to specialize in the prevention of hydro-geological hazards but also offer the ability to design solutions to safeguard the planet.
In an article in "Corriere della Sera", Prof. Massimiliano Zattin highlights how geologists, in addition to playing a key role in monitoring and predicting natural events, are now also increasingly equipped with key skills to support the energy transition and sustainable use of resources.
Moreover, the broad spectrum of activities is reflected in increasingly interdisciplinary training.
As pointed out by Prof. Zattin, one example is the Bachelor's degree "Earth and Climate Dynamics," recently launched by the University of Padua. This program covers many topics, encompassing the complex dynamics that interact between the solid Earth, oceans, climate, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere.
