Laboratory of X-ray fluorescence spectrometry: one year of analysis with the new instrument

In the X-ray fluorescence spectrometry laboratory of the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padova, chemical analysis of sold materials are performed to determine the composition of major, minor and trace elements.
In these days we have been celebrating the first year of activity of the new instrument: a Panalytical Zetium which was acquired in February 2022 by the Department of Geosciences. Since then around 500 samples were analyzed covering a wide range of materials, not only strictly geological, such as minerals, rocks and sediments, but also materials of cultural heritage interest or industrial materials. The measurements are precise and accurate thanks to the calibration done on the instrument using international geological standards.
