The International Diamond School returns to Bressanone for its sixth edition
The sixth edition of the International Diamond School (IDS 2026) is currently taking place in Bressanone, at the University of Padua Youth Centre, and will run until 31 January. The School is an advanced training initiative dedicated to scientific research on diamonds.
The International Diamond School represents a leading international forum for diamond research, approached from an interdisciplinary perspective that includes geochemistry, mineralogy, gemmology and mineral physics. The programme features plenary lectures by international keynote speakers, thematic workshops and hands-on practical sessionsemploying state-of-the-art analytical techniques.
Among the School’s main institutional partners is the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua. The Scientific and Organizing Committee is chaired by Prof. Fabrizio Nestola, a faculty member of the Department and an internationally recognised expert in mineral sciences and diamond research.
During the School, a collaboration was also established with the Associazione Un Sasso per Leonardo. Each participant received a small stone as a symbolic gift, in memory of Leonardo, the child to whom the association is dedicated, highlighting the human and social values that accompany scientific activity.
The International Diamond School offers participants a unique environment for exchange and advanced training, contributing to the understanding of diamonds not only as gemstones, but as natural archives that are fundamental to the study of deep Earth processes.
