Assistant Professor, Geosciences, University of Padua.
B.S.+M.S. with honors (Laurea summa cum laude), Environmental Engineering, University of Rome "Tor Vergata".
Ph.D., Environmental Engineering, University of Rome "Tor Vergata".
Ph.D., Mechanical and Process Engineering, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich.
Post-doc, Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin.
Research interests in my group are in the areas of flow and transport in porous media, particulate processes, and urban hydrology. Our approach is based on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of complex processes and geosystems through mathematical and numerical models validated with laboratory and field measurements.
Specific topics include: (1) CO2 removal technologies, including carbon mineralization and enhanced weathering, (2) Critical element mining and recovery, (3) Microorganism transport in the vadose zone, (4) Flow and transport in reactive porous media of solutes, particles, and bubbles, (5) Compound flooding modeling in urbanized coastal areas.
