The Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua, following funding donated by Italia Nostra Onlus – Venice Section, a national association for the protection of the historical, artistic, and natural heritage of the nation, in collaboration with Banca Generali, announces a competition for the awarding of a graduation prize in the amount of €932.80 (including IRAP) gross to the institution and €859.72 gross to the recipient, in order to honor the memory of architect Renato Padoan.
Renato Padoan, who passed away in 2017, served for many years at the Superintendency of Venice, including in the role of Superintendent, with great rigor and a profound knowledge of the city. Having repeatedly supported the initiatives of Italia Nostra, committed to the preservation and protection of Venice and its lagoon and cultural and environmental heritage, he wanted to donate his Venetian residence to the association in order to give it the opportunity to continue its protection activities.
The award is reserved for candidates enrolled in the Master's Degree courses in Environmental Geology and Earth Dynamics and in Geophysics for Natural Risks and Resources, affiliated with the Department of Geosciences, and in the Master's Degree courses in Civil Engineering, Environmental and Land Engineering, and Water and Geological Risk Engineering, affiliated with the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Padua, who will graduate in the academic year 2025/26, i.e., in the period from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
Candidates must have written the best thesis on the following topic: "Effects of natural processes and anthropogenic pressures on the eco-morphodynamic evolution of the Venice Lagoon."
