Pending the twelfth edition, scheduled for 2022 in Riva del Garda (Northern Italy), the International Conference of Fluvial Sedimentology returns on 14th and 15th July 2021 with two online days entirely dedicated to river research.
From sediment transport to depositional systems, up to Martian fluvial systems, ICFS2021 aims at keeping the focus on research in these areas, with several invited speakers among the organizers of the sessions of ICFS2022.
In particular, two virtual field trips are highlighted, focused on both fluvial sedimentary successions and modern rivers. As explained by Prof. Massimiliano Ghinassi, co-coordinator of the scientific committee of ICFS2021: “Virtual field trips offer the unique opportunity to visit, within a few hours, sites across the world which provide important contributions to understanding alluvial systems”. Moreover, “virtual field trips allow the examination of fluvial systems and related sedimentary products in a new light, which can offer new perspectives in comparison with more traditional approaches”, underlines Dr. Amanda Owen from University of Glasgow, co-coordinator of the scientific committee.
ICFS2021 is organized by Professors Massimiliano Ghinassi, Andrea D’Alpaos, Alessandro Fontana e Nicola Surian of the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua. All information and details on how to register, the programme and the free virtual field trips are available at the link: https://www.icfs2021.it/
