Think globally, while standing well rooted in your land !

Our research areas range from topics aimed to the advancement of basic knowledge to topics aimed to cope with the emerging problems of the Society. In particular, we are engaged in studying processes at different scales, from single crystal to the mountain range, and we do our best to contribute to the mitigation of natural hazards and the preservation of cultural heritage. We feel committed in interacting with our territory and industry, and in promoting science outreach: we co-work with regional and national agencies, particularly by producing geologic maps, and foster agreements with private industries. Last but not least, after ten years of hard work we are reopening to the public both the Museums hosted in our Department: the Museum of Geology and Paleontology and the Museum of Mineralogy.
