Il Dr. Manuel Rigo è nato a Padova (Italia) il 29/06/1978, si è laureato in Scienze Naturali cum lode presso l’Università degli Studi di Padova dove, nel 2006 ha conseguito il Dottorato di Ricerca in Scienze della Terra. Ha fruito di un Assegno biennale, successivamente rinnovato presso l’Univ. degli Studi di Padova. Attualmente è Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Geoscienze dell’Università degli Studi di Padova.

Nel 2008 ha ottenuto dalla Società Geologica Italiana il “Premio Giorgio Dal Piaz” per i migliori lavori pubblicati nel biennio 2007-2008 e nel 2020 il Premio “Marco Beltrando” (biennio 2019-2020) dalla Società Geologica Italiana

Ha pubblicato lavori di stratigrafia e geochimica (O, C, Sr) su riviste nazionali ed internazionali ed ha partecipato a numerosi convegni in Italia e all’estero. Ha inoltre partecipato all’organizzazione di congressi nazionali ed internazionali nel ruolo di leader e co-leader di escursioni.

L’attività di ricerca è stata svolta nell’ambito di nazionali PRIN, Progetto d'Ateneo e all'interno di progetti internazionali (Australia e Giappone).

• chemostratigraphy of light elements on carbonates (O, C) and organic matter (C, N); O, stable and
radiogenic Sr from biogenic apatite (conodonts); boron from biogenic carbonate (corals, molluscs);
• geochemical composition of the rocks (Major, trace, REE)
• geochemical evidence of meteorite impact events in sedimentary rocks;
• integrated stratigraphy (litho-, bio-, chemo-, magnetostratigraphy, and sequence stratigraphy);
• geochronology of the Triassic System, including GSSPs proposals (Carnian, Norian, Rhaetian);
• 36Cl surface exposure dating on rock avalanches.
